Start/Finish Instructions

1. STARTING LINE. As shown on course map or as described at the briefing.

2. STARTING TIMES. Championship / Premiership

Racing as per the Sailing Calendar or other notification.

3. CLASS FLAGS.

Yachts and Trailer Sailors Numeral Pendant 2

Catamarans Numeral Pendant 3

Lasers and All Boats Numeral Pendant 4

Juniors White/Black Sabot Insignia.

Or as described at briefing

4. NUMBER OF STARTERS.

When a Senior Class of boat has less than three (3) starters, such boat will start in an All Boats Class/Division, but shall be awarded class points.

Individual Class starts will depend on numbers and the discretion of the starter. Any changes will be announced at the briefing.

5. STARTING PROCEDURE.

(A) Class flag is displayed five (5) minutes before the start

(B) At four (4) minutes before the start, Code Flag P or I shall be displayed (one minute rule applies)

(C) At one (1) minute before the start Code Flag P or I is lowered

(D) Start shall be at the fall of Class Flag

Five (5) minute signal may overlap other starts.

All raising and lowering of flags may be accompanied by a sound signal or as described at briefing

6. RECALLS.

General and Individual recalls shall be as described in the Racing Rules of Sailing as amended or as described at the briefing.

7. FINISHING LINE.

A straight line between the flag pole and a starting/finishing buoy positioned on the course. Yachts and Trailer Sailer Divisions finish line is a straight line between the flag pole and a mark on the northern bank of the river.

8. SHORTENED COURSE.
It shall be at the discretion of the Sailing Committee to advise all boats
of a shortened course and the position of the finishing line. Signal may be made
from shore, flagpole, boat or buoy.

9. FLAG POLE.

Official flagpole is adjacent to start/finish box on the southern river bank.
